Her calling
A Daughter Who Carries the Stories Forward
Dr. Betty Orr is the daughter of Holocaust survivors. She grew up in a home shaped by memory — by the silences as much as the stories, by the weight of what her parents had endured and the fierce love with which they rebuilt their lives. From childhood, she understood that bearing witness was not a choice but a responsibility.
Her work as a Holocaust speaker is a direct extension of that inheritance. She does not speak about the Holocaust from the outside — she speaks from within it, as someone whose family lived through it. Her presentations carry the intimacy of a daughter's testimony: names, faces, and moments that history books cannot hold.
Over the years, she has brought those stories into classrooms, auditoriums, and community halls. Her presentations are not lectures — they are acts of remembrance. She speaks not only about what happened, but about why it matters now: the fragility of tolerance, the courage of bystanders who chose differently, and the enduring responsibility to stand against hatred.
Dr. Orr spent nearly 20 years in private dental practice in Charlotte, North Carolina — a career built on the same qualities that make her a powerful speaker: calm, patience, and the ability to hold space for another person's fear. She is now a dental educator, teaching the next generation of dental professionals to practice with kindness and compassion. In every room she enters — the auditorium, the classroom, the clinic — the work is the same: to create a moment of peace.
